Vytvoriť tieto fotografie trvalo 5 rokov a tisíce hodín pletenia. Štrikované kamufláže sa pohrajú s vašimi očami

Joseph Ford už päť rokov spolupracuje pri tvorbe originálnych fotografií so svojou priateľkou Ninou Dodd. Ich spoločná tvorba začala v momente, keď mu Nina ukázala ručne pletený sveter so vzorom inšpirovaným poťahom na sedadlá v brightonských autobusoch.

Joseph projekt najskôr niekoľko dní plánuje a tvorí koncept fotografie. Nina potom celé týždne, niekedy dokonca mesiace, pletie oblečenie na mieru. Všetko sa to začína nápadom, keď sa Joseph sám seba opýta – mohol by niekto splynúť s okrajom útesu? Podobné otázky viedli k sérii fotografií, ktoré sme vám predstavili už v predošlom článku. Teraz pre vás máme ďalšiu dávku ich kreativity.

Tom and Dre, 2019 48 hours knitting by @ninadoddknits Thanks to @burlandmusic and @_andrenels for agreeing to pose. Often when looking for models I wander the streets for hours or days, searching for inspiration. I’d wanted to step away from the stereotypes of people who fish so I went to a skatepark. Tom and Dre were surprised to be asked to model but agreed. I’d scouted the location on a grey day, and the jumper colours only matched the sea wall when the sky was overcast, so we had to wait hours for clouds to come over. We weighed the fishing line down with a thermos flask to make it look like Tom had just caught a big fish. No idea what the real anglers thought we were playing at. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #invisiblejumpers #knittedcamouflage #knitting #knittersofinstagram #hoxtonminipress #ninadodd #josephford #blendingin #fishing #angling #fishermenofinstagram #fishermen #aquamarine #seaside #seawall #anglers #pecheurs

Rumi and Scarlet, 2019 Prints from link in bio. @ninadoddknits has been knitting more and more intricate details as the series has progressed. Can anyone tell me what the small white patch on the sweater is? And for an extra point, what the dark line on the white patch is? Add your answers in the comments and I’ll post one of my limited edition prints (also available from link in bio!) to a randomly selected person who gets the correct response. I’ve photographed a whole range of ages for this project, and wanted to do a picture with teenagers. The idea of setting up in a messy bedroom appealed to me, and it was also a way of being able to control what went on the knitted garment. Armed with a range of accessories, I photographed Nina’s partner posing on the floor in a jumper covered in gaffer tape, adding a bottle here, an LP there, and drawing the corresponding lines onto the sweater. When I was done, I photographed the annotated jumper and then marked it up with colour indications. This gave Nina a model to work from, allowing precise placement of lines to match the accessories. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #invisiblejumpers #knittedcamouflage #knitting #knittersofinstagram #hoxtonminipress #ninadodd #josephford #nofilter #blendingin #letsknit #hiding #art #hidinginplainsite #camouflage #craft #landart #teenagers #teen #younglove #rizla #rollingpapers #vinyl #bedroom #messy #redsocks #lyingdown #modernlife #competition #giveaway

Stanmer Park, 2019. This was one of those ideas that seem great to start with and then take over your life. A year before shooting it I saw a cherry tree in blossom and thought ‘That would make a great knitting picture’. Every time I’ve asked @ninadoddknits to knit anything approaching camouflage she’s groaned – the random patterns make it very complicated to knit. She almost refused this concept but we settled on a child’s sleeveless dress to minimise the amount of needle time required. Even so it almost finished her off. At one point she had 24 balls of yarn on the go. Once her work was finished I waited anxiously for the cherries to start blooming. I’d found what seemed to be the perfect tree, with a backdrop of other trees, but while all the other local cherries were overloaded with blossom, these ones were bare. I visited them every 3 or 4 days for a month and finally, as I was about to go on holiday, they started flowering. It was a lovely shoot, ably assisted by my model’s siblings and friends, all jealous of the dress and desperate for a go on the swing I’d put up. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #invisiblejumpers #knittedcamouflage #cherryblossom #spring #child #swing #tree #pink #blossom #hanami #sakura #childhood #carefree #brighton #stanmerpark #nature

For the latest shot in the series, @ninadoddknits modelled the knitwear herself. When I scouted out the location I was thrown out by security guards very quickly – a bloke with a medium format digital back was obviously a big threat to public safety in this particular shopping centre. When Nina had finished her knitting magic, we went back and took the pictures as surreptitiously as you can when wielding a large camera. Managed to get the photos done pretty quickly, and beat a hasty retreat when we saw security converging on us. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #escalator #legwarmers #80s #silver #lines #camouflage #knittedcamouflage #knitting #knittersofinstagram #shoppingcentre #blendingin #legs #stairs #nofilter

I met @seth_globepainter when we were both artists in residence last summer at @mausa.vauban . I loved his work and suggested collaborating together to do a knitted camouflage picture with @ninadoddknits He had painted a series of murals around the Marché des Batignolles in the 17th in Paris, all based on children’s books. It was tough to choose which one to photograph, the whole series is inspiring, but in the end this one seemed the most playful. Hope you all recognise the story? Seth also posed in front of another one of his murals, based on Les Contes du Chat Perché by Marcel Aymé. The sweater was knitted specifically for the first picture so doesn’t blend as well but I love the mural. A big thank you to @stanislas.belhomme.mausa and @clementine.lemaitre who invited me to exhibit at MAUSA Vauban and introduced me to Seth. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #sethglobepainter #graffiti #streetart #paris #knittedcamouflage #knitting #artist #collaboration #paris #marchedesbatignolles #batignolles #paris17 #aliceinwonderland #aliceaupaysdesmerveilles #JosephFord #NinaDodd #Seth #books #purple #portrait #knittersofinstagram #blendin #mural
