Pri cestovaní sa väčšina ľudí zmení na fotografov a modelky, pretože si chceme uchmatnúť tú najkrajšiu fotku miestnych monumentov – samozrejme tak, že sa pred ne postavíme s vtipnou pózou. Maxwell Tilse, ilustrátor pochádzajúci z Austrálie, však spomienky z ciest zachytáva inak. S batohom na chrbte brázdi rozličné mestá a ich architektúru zachytáva vo svojich kresbách. Pracuje s akvarelom a atramentom, takže jeho tvorbe nechýbajú výrazné línie, ani jemné farby v pozadí. My latest drawing from Krakow, Poland. Krakow's main square with the townhall tower in the background. This 800 year old square, one of Europe's largest, was just too beautiful not to draw. . . Bardejov, Slovakia. We drove south from Krakow over the mountains into Slovakia. As soon as we approached the wooded border the snow came in thick and fast. 🌲🌲❄❄⛄ . This little mediaeval town close to the border has a great little square and church (unlike every other European town). Česky Krumlov, Czech Republic. From a slightly different angle to the drawing. A sketch of the old town from atop the high castle. . On my current trip I've mostly done quick pencil sketches outside. Then, I'll find a warm cozy place to finish the drawing with a hot meal and a cold beer. Small pencil outlines, then add the broad colours with Promarker pens then finally the black fineliner. Whilst drawing this, clouds had quickly descended on the town and changed the landscape a little. But you get the idea. You can even see my fingers turning pink in the cold. Next I'll be in Prague. Having finished my work I've had the Monday off to wander and draw. A cloudy grey day in old London town. I took a seat on a bench opposite parliment house and drew the rusty old boats, mored on the Thames. This was taken about 45 minutes in. Afterwards I walked further along the river and tried to wash off any melancholia with a pint in a little pub near Charing cross. Before I had even ordered an old fella had called me across from the bar. 3 hours later im late for my dinner date and have found great new friends in a farming couple from the countryside. All in all, I now wish i used more colour.
