Benjamin vytvára žehlením a krčením tkaniny impozantné portréty, čím túto domácu prácu povýšil rovno na umenie!

Namiesto maľovania farbou, britský umelec Benjamin Shine, vytvára portréty s tylom a žehličkou. Ľahkú a jemnú bavlnenú tkaninu, z ktorej sa bežne šijú závoje, závesy, svadobné šaty či tutu sukne, krčením, vrstvením a žehlením vytvára odtiene, až kým nevytvorí úchvatne realistické portréty. Výsledky žehliaceho umelca sú neuveriteľné!

Shine hovorí: „Nápad „maľovanie s tkaninou“ ma viedlo k rozvoju tejto techniky, kde je portrét vytvorený pomocou zložitého plisovania a žehlenia z jednej dĺžky tylu. Cieľom tejto techniky je využiť transparentnosť textílie a tak vytvárať rôzne prechody, odtiene a textúry.“

Today is World Elephant Day! Sadly poaching and hunting, especially for the ivory trade continues to endanger and threaten the species to the point of extinction. Great organsiations are out there helping and I have worked for many years with the wonderful @elephantfamily – who have raised many millions of pounds to implement important conservation initiatives for the Asian Elephants. They say an elephant never forgets… and neither should we! #gogrey

I had the great pleasure of depicting the beautiful @amberwitcomb in tulle for the latest special issue of Fashion Magazine to mark the milestone of their 40th anniversary. The piece will be auctioned with all proceeds going to establish a new fund to support emerging fashion design talent at Ryerson University’s School of Fashion. I'm a huge fan of soul music and great singers, so when the very talented Jason Heerah got in touch to ask if I'd create the artwork for his upcoming album…it was a very definite… YES! Jason is already well-known for his legendary drumming within the music industry, but last year his incredible talents saw him reach the finals of X Factor Australia, winning the hearts of the judges and viewers where his voice (as well as his drumming) blew everyone away. This week I’m celebrating the wonderful news of the recent purchase of this piece by the MET! This collaboration with the incredible John Galliano for @maisonmargiela remains one of my most favorite projects to date. Over 4 months, the piece developed as concepts of self, truth, filters and identity were considered through various formations of ‘the face’. Here the inside, becomes the outside as the inner tulle lining escapes from the back seam to engulf the body. The piece took over 300 hours to hand sew, remaining separate from the coat in order to float independently over it. @metcostumeinstitute #BenjaminShine @JGalliano #MaisonMargiela #Tulle #Trenchcoat
